NATIONAL QUR’AN COMPETITION KICKS OFF AT JAMIA MOSQUE, NAIROBI

The much-anticipated 2026 National Qur’an Competition has officially commenced today at Jamia Mosque, Nairobi, marking a significant milestone in promoting Qur’anic memorisation, recitation and excellence among Kenya’s Muslim youth.
The competition is organised by the Religious Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kenya, in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) and the Jamia Mosque Nairobi Committee, under the auspices of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Participants are competing in four categories—5, 15, 20 and 30 Juz’—with preliminary rounds running from 5th to 7th September across seven centres: Nairobi, Garissa, Mombasa, Nakuru, Isiolo, Wajir and Mandera.
Beyond the competition and prizes, the initiative seeks to nurture a generation deeply connected to the Holy Qur’an, strengthening faith, discipline, knowledge and moral character.
SUPKEM commends all participating students, teachers, parents, Qur’anic institutions and partners for their commitment to advancing Qur’anic excellence and Islamic education in Kenya.
May Allah bless the participants, reward their dedication and make the Qur’an a light and guidance for our Ummah. Ameen.
