Muslim parents in Texas are being urged to make their voices heard

Muslim parents in Texas are being urged to make their voices heard after the State Board of Education approved controversial new high school history standards despite months of opposition. The board rejected an amendment to remove the word “brutal” from a standard describing Prophet Muhammad’s military campaigns, voting 4–8 against the change. The approved curriculum also requires lessons on the “normalization of slavery” and “harem slaves,” while tying “radical Islam” to 9/11 and removing references to Muslim contributions to algebra and astronomy. CAIR Action Texas is now urging Muslim families to contact their local school boards and district leaders and get involved in the 2026 State Board of Education elections.
